Wegovy Click Calculator: Clicks per Dose for Every UK Pen
Pick your Wegovy pen, enter the dose from your prescriber and see how many clicks you need. Each pen strength holds a different amount of medicine per click, so the tool works pen by pen using figures from the Wegovy product licence.
By Nick Johnson, Independent Prescription Pricing Analyst, Medstack Ltd. Last checked 16 October 2026.
Use a click count only if your prescriber has told you to. Wegovy pens are made to give their labelled dose. Novo Nordisk has not tested part doses, and dialling one is off-label.

75 clicks
2.4 mg in 0.75 mL on the 2.4 mg pen.
This is the full labelled dose. Turn the selector until the counter stops at 2.4 mg. You do not need to count clicks.
Wegovy clicks at a glance
- A full dose on a 1.5 mL Wegovy pen is about 37 clicks. The 0.25 mg pen and one version of the 0.5 mg pen hold 1.5 mL.
- A full dose on a 3 mL Wegovy pen is about 74 or 75 clicks. The 1 mg, 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg pens hold 3 mL, as does the second 0.5 mg pen.
- One click moves about 0.01 mL of liquid. The medicine in each click ranges from 0.0068 mg on the weakest pens to 0.032 mg on the 2.4 mg pen.
- Every multi-dose Wegovy FlexTouch pen gives four weekly doses. The counter stops at the pen's labelled dose, so you cannot dial more.
- The 7.2 mg pen is single-use with a fixed dose. You have nothing to dial and no clicks to count.
- Novo Nordisk does not support part doses. Follow a click count only when your prescriber gives you one.
Clicks per full dose on every UK Wegovy pen
Each row uses the strength printed in the Wegovy product licence. Clicks are the dose volume divided by 0.01 mL, rounded to the nearest whole click.
| Pen | Pen holds | Strength | Volume per dose | Clicks per full dose | Medicine per click | Doses per pen |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.25 mg | 1 mg in 1.5 mL | 0.68 mg/mL | 0.37 mL | 37 | 0.0068 mg | 4 |
| 0.5 mg (1.5 mL) | 2 mg in 1.5 mL | 1.34 mg/mL | 0.37 mL | 37 | 0.0134 mg | 4 |
| 0.5 mg (3 mL) | 2 mg in 3 mL | 0.68 mg/mL | 0.74 mL | 74 | 0.0068 mg | 4 |
| 1 mg | 4 mg in 3 mL | 1.34 mg/mL | 0.75 mL | 75 | 0.0134 mg | 4 |
| 1.7 mg | 6.8 mg in 3 mL | 2.27 mg/mL | 0.75 mL | 75 | 0.0227 mg | 4 |
| 2.4 mg | 9.6 mg in 3 mL | 3.2 mg/mL | 0.75 mL | 75 | 0.032 mg | 4 |
| 7.2 mg | Single-dose pen. One fixed 7.2 mg dose, needle built in, no dial and no clicks. | |||||
Check the mL figure on the box as well as the mg. The two 0.5 mg pens, marked in the table, need different click counts for the same dose.
Why one dose can be 37 clicks or 74 clicks
A click measures volume. Each step of the dose selector moves the plunger a set distance and pushes out about 0.01 mL of liquid. How much semaglutide sits in that liquid depends on the strength of the pen in your hand.
Novo Nordisk makes two versions of the 0.5 mg pen. One holds 2 mg of semaglutide in 1.5 mL, a strength of 1.34 mg per mL. The other holds the same 2 mg in 3 mL, so its liquid is half as strong at 0.68 mg per mL. A 0.5 mg dose needs 0.37 mL from the first pen and 0.74 mL from the second. On the dial, about 37 clicks against about 74.
Click counts shared on forums and social media often leave out the pen. A number with no pen attached tells you nothing. Match any figure to the strength and the mL on your own box.
What the dose counter does and does not do
- The counter stops at the labelled dose. A 1.7 mg pen will not dial past 1.7 mg, no matter how far you turn the selector.
- Each new pen starts with a flow check. The instructions ask you to dial the flow check symbol and push out a drop before the first dose. This liquid is extra and does not come out of your four doses.
- The pen is built for four doses. Liquid left after the fourth dose is not a fifth one. The instructions tell you to dispose of the pen once the four doses are used.
- Counting down to a lower dose is off-label. The pen is tested to give its labelled dose. Novo Nordisk gives no accuracy figures for part doses.
For needles and empty pens, see pen and needle disposal in the UK.
When a prescriber gives you a click count
Some prescribers give a click count for a short spell. One example is stepping back to a lower dose for a few weeks after side effects, while you still hold a higher-strength pen. Another is a stock shortage of your usual strength. The decision belongs to your prescriber. If nobody has given you a click count in writing, use the full labelled dose of the pen you were prescribed.
Worked example. Your prescriber asks you to take 1.7 mg for a few weeks and you have a 2.4 mg pen. The 2.4 mg pen holds 3.2 mg per mL, so 1.7 mg is 0.53 mL, or 53 clicks. The pen then holds enough for five doses at that amount in theory, but the pen was not built for this. Ask your pharmacist when to reorder.
Wegovy normally goes up in four-week steps from 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg, with 7.2 mg as a higher maintenance dose for some adults. The Wegovy dose steps guide sets out each step. If you have missed a week, read what the leaflet says about a missed Wegovy dose before you dial anything.
The 7.2 mg pen has no clicks
The MHRA licensed a 7.2 mg weekly dose of Wegovy in January 2026. At first the dose meant three 2.4 mg injections on the same day. Novo Nordisk then brought out a single-dose 7.2 mg pen with the needle built in. You use each pen once, the dose is fixed and you have no dial to turn.

If something goes wrong
- You injected more than you were prescribed. Contact your prescriber or pharmacist straight away, or call NHS 111. Too much semaglutide can cause severe nausea and vomiting.
- You have severe stomach pain that will not go away, with or without vomiting. Call 999 or go to A&E. This can be a sign of pancreatitis.
- You are not sure which pen you have. Read the strength and mL on the box label, or ask the pharmacy that sent the pen. Do not guess a click count.
Report side effects to the MHRA through the Yellow Card scheme. The Wegovy side effects body map shows how common each effect is.

How many clicks is a full Wegovy dose?
About 37 clicks on the 1.5 mL pens, which are the 0.25 mg pen and one version of the 0.5 mg pen. About 74 to 75 clicks on the 3 mL pens, which are the 1 mg, 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg pens and the second 0.5 mg pen. For a full dose you can turn the selector until the counter stops, with no counting.
How many mg is one click on a Wegovy pen?
One click is about 0.01 mL, which holds 0.0068 mg on the 0.25 mg pen and the 3 mL 0.5 mg pen, 0.0134 mg on the 1.5 mL 0.5 mg pen and the 1 mg pen, 0.0227 mg on the 1.7 mg pen and 0.032 mg on the 2.4 mg pen.
Why does my 0.5 mg pen need a different number of clicks from someone else's?
Two 0.5 mg pens exist. One holds 1.5 mL at 1.34 mg per mL and the other holds 3 mL at 0.68 mg per mL. A 0.5 mg dose is about 37 clicks on the first and about 74 on the second. Check the mL on your box.
Can I dial more than the dose on my pen?
No. The dose counter stops at the pen's labelled dose. A larger dose needs a higher-strength pen, prescribed for you.
Can I get a fifth dose from a Wegovy pen?
No. The pen is built for four doses and the instructions tell you to dispose of the pen after the fourth. Liquid left in the pen is not a full dose.
Is using clicks to take a lower Wegovy dose allowed?
Only on your prescriber's advice. Part doses are off-label and Novo Nordisk has not tested how accurate they are. Some people call this microdosing. iGovy does not advise changing your dose or schedule on your own.
Does the Wegovy 7.2 mg pen have clicks?
No. The 7.2 mg pen is a single-dose pen with a fixed dose and a built-in needle. You use each pen once, then put the whole pen in a sharps bin.
Do I need to do a flow check?
Yes, before the first dose from each new multi-dose pen. The liquid used for the flow check is extra and does not reduce your four doses.
What should I do if I injected too much Wegovy?
Contact your prescriber or pharmacist straight away, or call NHS 111. Too much semaglutide can cause severe nausea and vomiting. For severe stomach pain that will not settle, call 999.
